How I Started in Airbnb Years ago…
A lot of people do ask me how I got started in Airbnb, and a lot of people don’t know that I actually got s*** on and finessed when I first started my real estate journey.
So I was working for this company out in Indianapolis doing Zillow Listings and Marketing. Essentially, we set a contract in place where I was supposed to get paid in a percentage in every single deal that came through based off of the staging, the photography and copy that I was doing.
So they end up doing two million, three million dollars in sales for these homes. And I got paid absolutely nothing.
But this is how I found out. So I was driving around, checking my work, seeing if the sale sign still in the yard and all that kind of stuff and I saw sale signs completely missing.
So I’m thinking to myself, wait a minute, I haven’t gotten a paycheck, these sale signs are gone, what’s going on?
So I started hitting up agents. Starting hitting up other individuals as well. And actually stopping at these homes just to find out that these homes were getting sold behing my back.
The moral of this story is “Don’t let what other people do, the finesse and people trying to hinder you from your growth. Don’t let stuff stop you and take your confidence so low to a level where you just want to give up. You just want to end it all.
Because I remember what that felt like, I remember being a roommate and sleeping on the couch and sleeping on the floor, literally working on this job, thinking that this 15, this 20, 30K that I was about to get was essentially going to change my life forever and that door was slammed right in my face.
